KUALA LUMPUR – Umno Vice President Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin reassured supporters that the party's administration is committed to protecting the interests of Malays and Islam in Malaysia.

In his final address at the Umno General Assembly today, Khaled emphasised the importance of maintaining a strong framework to safeguard the special rights of the Bumiputeras, supported by existing governmental institutions predominantly led by Malays.

"We have our civil servants, the constitution, the rule of law, and a shared governance structure with many other parties," he said.

Highlighting the collective strength of Umno and its allies, Khaled said that the power of Umno does not solely rest within itself but is enhanced by their partnerships.

"It's vital that we maintain an open attitude and welcome cooperation with other parties for the sake of national success," he said.

Khaled also pointed out that Umno must stand firm and not be intimidated by political challenges or rhetoric from other parties.

"Umno can't be scared of Pas, Umno can't be scared of Bersatu, and Umno can't be scared of DAP," he proclaimed, signaling a robust stance against political adversaries.

Reflecting on the evolution of the party, Khaled observed significant changes in Umno's approach to governance and policy-making.

"Umno today is not the same as it once was. Our journey has matured us, and with the experience and knowledge we've gained, we must not succumb to unfounded political rhetoric," he added.

He called on party members to cultivate a mindset that vigilantly defends the special rights of the Malays, ensuring these rights remain protected amidst the dynamic landscape of Malaysian politics.
