KUALA LUMPUR - Umno Women's Exco member Datuk Nurulhidayah Ahmad Zahid said that the party is not her father’s instead it belongs to everyone.

Nurulhidayah, who is also the daughter of Umno President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, stressed that any individual does not own Umno.

“It does not belong to my father or anyone else’s father. It belongs to all of us,” she said.

According to her, every member must have a sense of awareness and a commitment to defending the party together, regardless of who leads it.

“The Malays, including those who are not yet Umno members and those who are still waiting to rejoin the party’s ranks, should recognise this.

“Whoever our next top leader may be, I am confident that with the spirit and love we have, this party will be defended because Umno is not a commodity for anyone,” she said during the debate on the presidential address at the Umno General Assembly at the Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre (WTCKL) on Saturday.

Nurulhidayah also acknowledged that Umno members deeply miss the presence of ‘Bossku’ the former Umno president, Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

She highlighted that Najib’s dedication had brought the nation to the pinnacle of excellence with various transformations for the well-being of the people and all Umno members.

“In every division I have attended as the officiator, I have heard motions from the women delegates calling for justice to be served for Bossku in the best possible way. May there be light for him.

“Personally, I support the motion by the women delegates that the Umno leadership continues to uphold justice for Bossku without fail and never gives up in the efforts for a leader who has stood by us through thick and thin.

“Currently, Umno leadership continues to be blamed, with faults being sought, particularly with the president often under relentless attack from both outside and within.

“He is insulted, cursed and even given derogatory names and titles, all with the intent of destroying the character of someone who bears the title of Umno President,” she said.
