KUALA LUMPUR - As Malaysia’s political landscape evolves, an Umno Supreme Council Member has emphasised the importance of political moderation for the party’s resurgence and relevance.

According to Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir, adopting a moderate approach is essential for guiding the complexities of modern governance and securing Umno's future position in the nation.

This call for balance and adaptability was prominently highlighted during the Umno General Assembly today at the Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre (WTCKC).

Zambry stressed the significance of moderation, reflecting on Umno President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's speech.

"Umno and Barisan Nasional will continue to practice political moderation.

"However, we must also embrace change by fostering new idealism that aligns with the evolving political climate," Zambry said.

He cited that Zahid outlined five key points to ensure Umno and Barisan remain ahead in the next general election.

This includes focusing on the next generation, the party’s strength, and Wanita Umno, as they adapt to new campaigning methods through digital platforms.

The Higher Education Minister also highlighted that Umno’s future success depends on its ability to attract and develop leaders who resonate with a modern electorate.

This requires moving away from traditional methods and being open to collaboration with other political entities.

Zambry stressed the need for Umno to leverage its large membership base to produce leaders who can garner support across various demographics.

"While we may have the largest membership base with 3.4 million members, it does not automatically make us the dominant party.

"We need to enhance our collaboration with other parties to continue contributing to the country's development," he said.
