Two durian dealers shot by an armed group in Yala

The CCTV footage showed the group approaching the victims on foot before opening fire and fleeing the scene.

YALA - Two durian traders were shot dead by an armed group in Yala, southern Thailand last night.

Bannang Sata Police Chief, Police Colonel Ranon Surawit said the police received a report of a shooting incident near the Kampung Sai Keaw cemetery, Bannang Sata district, at 9.21pm local time.

"Upon arrival at the scene, police found two men had collapsed in their stall, and an investigation using closed-circuit television (CCTV) revealed that the victims were attacked by an armed group," he told reporters on Thursday.

Ranon said that CCTV footage showed the group approaching the victims on foot before opening fire and fleeing the scene.

He added that the first victim, aged 55, was from Chanthaburi in the eastern province of Thailand, while the second victim, aged 67, was a local resident of Yala.

He said that the police are working with local authorities to identify the motive behind the attack. - BERNAMA
