SHAH ALAM - Malaysia #QuranHour has the potential to unite the Muslim community across different age groups.

Halaqah Al-Quran (Associate) Kluang chairperson Halimah Md Nor said the collaboration with mosques, schools, universities, local communities and Islamic organisations made the programme more competitive and relevant.

"Malaysia #QuranHour is an important initiative in bringing Muslims closer to the Quran.

"As a programme that encourages collective reading and reflection on the Quran, it has great potential to unite various age groups within the Muslim community.

"The programme is not just about reading the Quran; it also stimulates interest and participation among Muslims, making it a valuable educational platform," she told Sinar.

Halimah added that the Malaysia #QuranHour programme was excellent because it invited the community to love the Quran and understand its contents.

"It indirectly demands that we respect the rights of the holy book by reading, studying, reflecting on it and teaching it.

"May we receive continuous blessings from Allah for loving and practising the teachings of the Quran.

"I have had the opportunity to participate in Malaysia #QuranHour several times.

"Before this, I only read the Quran, now I also reflect on the meanings of the Quran and can explain it to my children and grandchildren," she said.

Meanwhile, the retiree noted that this year’s campaign, which emphasises the theme "Merdeka Spirit: Deciphering the Rukun Negara" was very fitting because the belief in God, as stated in the Rukun Negara, is closely related to the concept of a free soul.

"InsyaAllah, we will receive guidance and blessings.

"That is true independence—freeing oneself from wrongful acts that lead to deviation in the eyes of Allah, Wallahualam," she said.

The Malaysia #QuranHour 2024 programme will be held on Aug 30 at the Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque in Putrajaya from 10am to 11am.

The event will be streamed live, with media outlets such as Sinar Harian, Astro Oasis, TV9, Bernama, TV Alhijrah, Zayan, Astro Awani, Nu Ideaktiv, IKIM FM, Denaihati.com and Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) acting as the primary broadcasters for Malaysia #QuranHour.
