'Rozaid remembered as dedicated leader' - Karangkraf Media Group advisor

SHAH ALAM - The late Rozaid Abdul Rahman was a dedicated leader during his two-year tenure as the Sinar Karangkraf group editor-in-chief.

Sinar Karangkraf Group Advisor Datuk Hussamuddin Yaacub honoured Rozaid's leadership, particularly during the challenging period of the Covid-19 pandemic that gripped the nation.

He said that at the height of the pandemic, Sinar Harian operated entirely from home, with the newspaper being printed at the factory while all other operations were conducted online and digitally.

"Rozaid was an old friend of mine from his days at Utusan Malaysia and The Star.

"Three years ago, I invited him to join Karangkraf after the passing of the late Datuk Baharom Mahusin, the former group editor-in-chief.

"Alhamdulillah, during his time at Karangkraf, Rozaid successfully led Sinar Harian," Hussamuddin told Sinar at Putra Heights Mosque earlier today.

Hussamuddin acknowledged that during Rozaid's tenure as group editor-in-chief, he faced several health challenges, including undergoing surgery, which necessitated extended medical leave.

He also extended his condolences to Rozaid's family and expressed hope that they would find strength in this difficult time, noting that "Allah loves him more."

Rozaid, 59, who was also the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) Media and Strategic Communications director died due to a heart attack, yesterday (Sunday).

Previously, he was reported to have experienced health issues and had received treatment at Sultan Idris Shah Hospital in Serdang.

Rozaid began his duties at Sinar Karangkraf on Jan 4, 2021, before deciding to end his service on Dec 30, 2022.

During his tenure, he launched Karangkraf Group's English news portal, Sinar Daily.

Rozaid had extensive experience in journalism for 40 years, starting his career as a cadet reporter at Utusan Malaysia in April 1984.
