GUA MUSANG - Kelantan Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub said that the coalition’s victory in Nenggiri is extraordinary in history, but it also represents a significant test and responsibility.

Jazlan said that he never expected to win the Nenggiri by-election by such a large margin.

“It was an extraordinary and historic victory. However, we must remember that this overwhelming victory is both a responsibility and a test. The people want to see how well Umno and BN, led by Mohd Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani (Awie), can solve the issues that the state government has been unable to address.

“When we offered the people the promise that Awie would serve Nenggiri, we asked them to support Awie to help Nenggiri; for the people, by the people.

“Therefore, Awie needs to prove that he is the best representative for the people,” he said.

As the Director of Operations for the Nenggiri by-election, Jazlan congratulated Awie and said that the victory marked the beginning of a new wave for the youth after being entrusted by the people.

"I also express my deepest appreciation and gratitude to the people of Nenggiri who chose Awie and BN in this by-election. We will uphold the trust placed in us by the people of Nenggiri," he said.

He added that this victory was also made possible by the full support and trust of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Umno President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and the entire team who worked tirelessly throughout the Nenggiri by-election.

BN secured a majority of 3,352 votes, with a voter turnout of 73.88 per cent, as recorded by the Election Commission (EC) until the official announcement of the results last night.
