SHAH ALAM - Barisan Nasional (BN) has claimed victory in the Nenggiri state seat from Perikatan Nasional (PN), according to unofficial results.

This marks the first by-election win for BN since the 2022 general election (GE15).

Local reports indicated that BN has surpassed the crucial 50 per cent vote threshold, with results from 39 out of 47 polling districts already in.

As of the latest count, BN holds a lead of over 2,800 votes, a margin that appears insurmountable for PN.

This by-election victory for BN may signal a shift in voter sentiment, adding a significant milestone to Malaysia's post-GE15 political landscape.

A total of 20,259 registered voters were eligible to vote in the by-election.

All polling centres in the constituency closed at 6pm today, with the Election Commission reporting a voter turnout of 71.87 per cent as of 4pm.
