GUA MUSANG - A married couple Mohd Amran Isnun, 47 and Rashidah Mohamad, 45, were the last couple to vote at Sekolah Kebangsaan Renok Baru Polling Centre here on Saturday.

They arrived at the polling centre around 5.50pm.

Amran said although busy managing their food stall, it was not an excuse to avoid fulfilling that responsibility.

"We planned to come early in the morning, but the food stall was filled with customers throughout the day," he said when met at the polling centre.

The father of three said that realising they were late to vote, they quickly cleaned up and closed the food stall.

"Alhamdulillah, we managed to arrive even at the last minute and we're relieved to have been able to choose our candidate here," he said.

Amran, who is originally from Kluang, Johor, said that he has been living in Kampung Renok here for more than 20 years after marrying Rashidah.

The polling centre was closed by the supervisor of the SK Renok Baru Polling Centre, Mohd Nazeri Abllah.

The Nenggiri state assembly by-election saw a one-on-one fight between Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Mohd Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani and Pas candidate Mohd Rizwadi Ismail representing Perikatan Nasional (PN).

Both candidates voted at the same polling centre, Tabika Sri Bakawali, Bertam Lama.
