SHAH ALAM - Perikatan Nasional (PN) leader Tan Sri Annuar Musa has hinted at a significant drop in votes for his coalition in the Nenggiri by-election.

In a Facebook post made shortly after polling stations closed, Annuar revealed that over 2,000 PN supporters did not vote, allegedly due to rumours of Barisan Nasional (BN) engaging in vote-buying.

He expressed concern that this could adversely affect PN's performance in the election.

"The polling station has just closed. More than 2,000 PN voters did not turn up due to the impact of news that others were receiving money," Annuar wrote.

He also observed that the higher voter turnout today might work in BN's favour, potentially intensifying the competition.

"The high voter turnout might give an advantage to BN," he added.

At the time of his post, Annuar said that the final voting data for the last two hours, from 4pm to 6pm, had not yet been received by the PN operations room, indicating that the race could be very close.

"The competition might be tight. We leave it to Allah," he said.

The outcome of this election remains uncertain, with both PN and BN awaiting the final results to assess the impact of today's voter turnout and the allegations of vote-buying.

In the Kelantan state election on August 15 last year, Mohd Azizi (PN) defeated the BN candidate by a majority of 810 votes.
