GUA MUSANG - Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Nenggiri by-election, Mohd Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani has urged the people of Nenggiri to entrust him with their vote, promising to do his utmost to fulfill their mandate if elected.

Azmawi, better known as Awie, said that he was satisfied with his campaign for the Nenggiri by-election.

“Alhamdulillah, I believe I have done my best, I have met with voters, convincing them to vote for me. Now, with only around six hours left, there is only one more programme tonight and the rest I leave it in Allah’s will.

“I want to urge the people of Nenggiri to entrust me with their vote, to appoint me as their representative,” he said.

Awie also said that he has managed to meet voters across all areas in Nenggiri.

When asked if he considered himself a worthy candidate and representative for the people of Nenggiri, Awie confidently said that he believed he deserved the opportunity.

“When a party selects a candidate for an election, it is a decision made through their process, and I believe I am deserving of the opportunity.

“While there are others who are equally deserving, once chosen, it becomes my responsibility to carry that mantle.

“If I am entrusted with the people’s mandate, I will do my utmost to serve them,” he said when met by reporters at a friendly football match between local football team, Perasu versus former players of Kelantan FC at Felda Perasu field.

The Nenggiri by-election is scheduled to take place on tomorrow, following the declaration of the seat's vacancy by Kelantan State Assembly Speaker Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah on June 19.

This declaration came after the former assemblyman, Mohd Azizi Abu Naim, ceased to be a Bersatu member on June 13.

In last year's state election, Azizi, running on a Pas ticket, won the seat with a majority of 810 votes over BN's Ab Aziz Yusoff. The constituency has 20,259 registered voters.
