‘Awie is the ‘Yang Berkhidmat’ that Nenggiri seeks’ - Akmal
“His long-standing work and presence at the grassroots level have earned him widespread acceptance and support."
GUA MUSANG - Umno Youth chief Dr Muhammad Akmal Saleh affirmed that Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Nenggiri by-election Mohd Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani, also known as Awie, is the 'Yang Berkhidmat' that Nenggiri needs.
Dr Akmal said that although his party lost in the last election, BN’s candidate Awie, has built strong momentum due to his solid reputation in Nenggiri.
“His long-standing work and presence at the grassroots level have earned him widespread acceptance and support.
“They (people) acknowledged that Awie has been actively involved in the community for years,” he said.
Dr Akmal also said that BN is optimistic about their momentum for tomorrow’s election.
“As I mentioned before, Nenggiri is seeking a ‘Yang Berkhidmat’ rather than just a ‘Yang Berhormat’.
“Insyallah, that person will be candidate Number Two from Barisan Nasional (Awie),” he said when met by reporters at a friendly football match between local football team, Perasu versus former players of Kelantan FC at Felda Perasu field.
The Nenggiri by-election is scheduled to take place on Aug 17, following the declaration of the seat's vacancy by Kelantan State Assembly Speaker Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah on June 19.
This declaration came after the former assemblyman, Mohd Azizi Abu Naim, ceased to be a Bersatu member on June 13.
In last year's state election, Azizi, running on a Pas ticket, won the seat with a majority of 810 votes over BN's Ab Aziz Yusoff.
The constituency has 20,259 registered voters.
