SHAH ALAM - 'If it weren’t for her, we might not have realised my brother was missing...'

These were the words of singer Aufahanie as she expressed her feelings about the disappearance of her brother, Nidza Afham Mokhtar, 23, last Tuesday afternoon.

Aufahanie, 21, emphasised that Nidza’s girlfriend, Hazmiera, was the last person to communicate with him and the first to notice his disappearance.

"Hazmiera has been deeply affected by my brother's passing.

"She never expected it, and if she hadn’t reported his disappearance, our mother and younger sibling might not have realised he was missing.

"Thanks to Hazmiera, we knew my brother's last known location and were able to act quickly," she said during an interview at the Shah Alam Hospital Forensic Unit earlier today.

The sixth of seven siblings added that, with Hazmiera’s help, their mother and sibling were able to access the deceased's mobile phone.

It was also revealed that Nidza and Hazmiera had been planning to get engaged, though no date had been set.

"He used to share his feelings a lot, especially with me, as we were very close.

"Our parents divorced when we were young, so we didn’t live together. As we grew up, we met more often and shared stories.

"But when he had a girlfriend, he shared more with Hazmiera.

"Recently, I didn’t know much about what was happening with him," she added.

Aufahanie said that their last interaction was on Monday.

"I had just gotten into the car to go to class, opened Spotify, found his song, and sent him a screenshot.

"That was the last time we communicated. I live with our father, and my brother lived with our mother, but we stayed in touch every day, even if it was just sending TikTok videos," she said, noting that the deceased often accompanied her to performances.

Nidza was reported missing after going jogging alone at Stadium Sultan Suleiman, Klang, on Tuesday afternoon.

His girlfriend later tracked his phone near Jambatan Sungai Klang after she was unable to reach him.

On Wednesday, Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan confirmed that the body discovered near Jambatan Sungai Klang around 7pm was Nidza Afham.

The body was discovered by a member of the public around 5pm.

The remains will be buried at the Islamic Cemetery of Kampung Felda Bukit Cherakah after the post-mortem is completed.
