Inspire the youth with positive social media content - Khairul Aming

He urged content creators to ensure their influence remains positive.

SHAH ALAM - Khairul Aming, one of Malaysia’s leading content creators and successful entrepreneurs, is encouraging fellow social media creators to incorporate their content with positive value.

At the recent TikTok Awards Malaysia 2024, where he served as a judge and presenter, Khairul called on influencers to contribute to a healthier online environment.

During the event, he emphasised the importance of creating high-quality content that can inspire and become a role model for the younger generation.

“Today, I want to invite all content creators, not just those present in this hall but across Malaysia, to add positive value to the content we create on social media.

“I hope that this will inspire the younger generation out there," Khairul Aming said during the award show.

The two-hour awards event, hosted at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL) on Jalan Putra at 9pm aimed to recognise and celebrate Malaysian content creators. Featuring 72 nominees across 12 diverse categories, the ceremony included two major segments in which Judges' Pick and People's Choice.

As one of the judges, Khairul took the opportunity to deliver a message, noting the increasing interest among young people in video creation. In his speech, he acknowledged that many school students aspire to become content creators.

He stressed that being a content creator is not a problem, as it offers many opportunities to positively impact society. However, he urged content creators to ensure their influence remains positive.

"If we create content irresponsibly, for example by chasing views and engagement and making statements like 'education is not important' or 'bad marketing is good marketing,' we can negatively impact young minds.

“Such irresponsible actions can influence the thinking of the youth out there," he said.

The executive panel assessed each creator based on their specific category, which included Entertainment, Animation, Gaming, Food, Education, Sports, and Beauty and Fashion.

Abdul Qayyum, widely known as Che Sayang, was honoured as the 'Creator of the Year' at the TikTok Awards Malaysia 2024.

Other notable winners included Acap (Ashraf Jaafar) as Live Creator of the Year, Tang Guo for Food Creator of the Year, Nicholas Lim Pinn Yang as Shop Creator of the Year, and Amin and Abid Othman for Education Creator of the Year. Aishah Rahim was recognised as Beauty and Fashion Creator of the Year.

Additional accolades went to King Shah as Gaming Creator of the Year, Amar & Anas for Sports Creator of the Year, and handicapped activist Izhar Idham (Braderwheelchair) for his impactful work. The Lokohopunoh Group was named Changemaker of the Year, Yimotapir was honoured as Animation Creator of the Year, Bella Astillah received Celebrity of the Year, Agy was recognised for Video of the Year, and Kanafly was awarded Entertainment Creator of the Year.

Khairul added that TikTok is recognising content creators today who have made a significant impact on the community.

“Their work not only serves as inspiration on social media but also sets a positive example for those around them,” Khairul said.
