SHAH ALAM - National track cyclist Muhammad Shah Firdaus Sahrom has advanced to the Paris Olympics semifinals of the keirin event at the Saint Quentin Velodrome earlier today.

The Johor-born cyclist advanced to the keirin semifinals at the Paris Olympics after finishing third in his quarter-final heat, clocking 10.154s.

His progress came as a relief to Malaysians following the shock disqualification of Datuk Azizulhasni Awang, who had been a medal favourite.

Shah Firdaus had earlier faced setbacks, including being relegated to the repechage for a riding infraction in the first round.
