In a thrilling development for Selangor's tourism, i-City is gearing up to play a key role in the state's Visit Selangor 2025 campaign by launching SkyCity, a first-of-its-kind attraction.
The groundbreaking ceremony, held today, marked the start of this exciting project which is expected to attract five million visitors in 2025 and contributing significantly to the state's target of seven million tourists.
During the ceremony, i-City Selangor chairman Datuk Seri Tengku Ahmad Shah ibni Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin highlighted the growing trend of "bleisure" activities, where business meets leisure, fueling the success of Shah Alam's DoubleTree by Hilton, the region's premier five-star hotel.
This blend of business and leisure has made Shah Alam a popular destination and i-City's attractions were set to enhance this appeal further.

Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari who officiated the groundbreaking ceremony, emphasised the economic impact of tourism on Selangor's gross domestic product (GDP).
"Selangor covered over a quarter of the country's GDP in 2024. The tourism services sector was identified as a key driver of Selangor’s economy with a contribution of 26.5 per cent to the state’s GDP.
"Tourism products such as SkyCity are important to move the tourism services sector," he said.
SkyCity's addition to Shah Alam's skyline, visible from the Federal Highway is poised to become a landmark that attracts troves of tourists daily.
Extensive promotions by i-City will further bolster this attraction, drawing visitors eager to experience its unique offerings.
