Pasir Gudang MP calls for dynamic diplomatic efforts for Palestinian independence
The call comes in the wake of the tragic death of Palestinian leader Ismail Haniyeh, along with his three sons and four grandchildren, amidst the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
SHAH ALAM - Pasir Gudang Member of Parliament Hassan Abdul Karim urges the government to initiate dynamic diplomatic efforts toward the independence of a sovereign Palestinian state.
The call comes in the wake of the tragic death of Palestinian leader Ismail Haniyeh, along with his three sons and four grandchildren, amidst the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
In a statement, Hassan said Malaysia must cease any form of direct or indirect cooperation with entities closely related to the Zionist Israeli regime, such as the international investment conglomerate known as BlackRock.
"While the Malaysian people mourn and grieve the death of Ismail Haniyeh, it is appropriate for Malaysia to cancel the sale of a significant portion of shares in MAHB, a strategic national company, to Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), which is controlled by BlackRock," he said.
His statement also comes in the wake of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruling, which affirmed the Palestinian right to self-determination and declared the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories illegal.
"As we, the citizens of the world, mourn the death of Palestinian leader Ismail Haniyeh, we also bear the responsibility of implementing the recent decision of the ICJ of the United Nations in The Hague, Netherlands.
"It is important that the death of Ismail Haniyeh, his three sons, and four grandchildren, as well as over 39,000 Palestinians in Gaza who were killed by the Zionist Israeli regime, are not in vain," he said.
Hassan said the ICJ has ruled that the Palestinian people have the right to live in an independent and sovereign Palestinian state.
He added that the ICJ decided that the Israeli occupation of Palestinian land, including Gaza and the West Bank, is illegal as it violates international law.
"The ICJ declared that Israel must immediately withdraw from Palestinian land. The ICJ also determined that the Israeli regime has committed genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza," he said.
