KOTA BHARU - A young man with only a Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) qualification has set aside his embarrassment to share his resume across several community groups on social media in search of employment.

Nuzul Akmal Abdullah, 23, has openly shared his previous work experiences, including roles as a manual labourer and factory worker.

Speaking about his decision to share his resume on platforms like WhatsApp, Telegram, and Facebook, Akmal from Kampung Limau Purut, Rantau Panjang, stressed his urgent need for a job to support his family.

"I have been unemployed for over two months and have been using my savings for daily expenses," he told Sinar yesterday.

Despite his efforts to find a job through friends and WhatsApp groups, he faced little success.

"I kept trying, but messages went unanswered, and some rejections came, possibly because of my SPM qualification," he said.

After nearly losing hope, Akmal decided to post his resume in over five community groups on Facebook, hoping to attract potential employers.

"I put aside my embarrassment, and although some netizens made insensitive remarks, many others offered support.

"I don't let negative comments affect me and consider them as mere jokes," he added.

To his surprise, his resume went viral and attracted the attention of several employers.

Akmal is now pleased working on a farm that grows grass for livestock.

He appreciated the fair pay for his qualifications and valued the employment that allowed him to save for the future.

"Alhamdulillah, I have a better job now compared to my previous construction work. I do not come from a wealthy family," he said.

Akmal's mother, Sah Harun, 52, who works in a salon, and his father, Abdullah Latiff, 74, a labourer, have always encouraged him to be independent and work hard.

On the current discussion on low wages, Akmal noted that while wages in Kelantan may be lower, the cost of living is also relatively affordable, with low rent and reasonably priced eateries.

As the second of three siblings and engaged to Siti Nor Akma Zuki, 23, Akmal has decided to stay in Kelantan to remain close to his family.

"I am also fortunate to have the support of my fiance, who helped me search for a job during this challenging period," he added.
