Dr Mahathir allowed to return home as health improves

His aide, Sufi Yusoff, said that Dr Mahathir was only receiving treatment for a cough.

KUALA LUMPUR - Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has been allowed to return home after being treated at the National Heart Institute (IJN) here since July 15.

His aide, Sufi Yusoff, said that Dr Mahathir's health is improving and he was only receiving treatment for a cough.

"Dr Mahathir returned home yesterday but has not been fully discharged and his health is still being monitored," he said when contacted by Bernama here today.

Dr Mahathir celebrated his 99th birthday on July 10. - BERNAMA
