JOHOR BAHRU - A babysitter has been remanded to assist in the investigation of a case involving a two-month-old baby girl suspected of being abused, resulting in a broken left leg, in Bandar Dato Onn.

Johor Bahru Selatan District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat said the 36-year-old female babysitter was remanded for six days from Tuesday to Sunday.

"The police detained the babysitter after the baby's parents lodged a police report on Sunday afternoon.

"The case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001," he said when contacted on Wednesday.

Previously, the case went viral on social media after the baby's mother shared that she noticed something was wrong with her child after picking her up last Saturday.

She claimed that while changing the diaper, the father saw swelling on the left thigh and noticed that the baby was less active and not drinking milk as usual.

The baby was then taken to a clinic for an examination before being referred to a government hospital.

However, when the baby's parents contacted the babysitter to inquire about any incidents involving their child, she informed them that nothing had happened to the baby.

The baby's father then lodged a police report at 4.38pm last Sunday at the Dato Onn Police Station.
