IPOH - Immediate action, including demolishing the Mydin Manjoi Hypermarket building here, needs to be taken to prevent a recurrence of the wall collapse incident that happened on Monday.

Manjoi assemblyman Mohd Hafez Sabri said the incident which injured two teenagers, proved that the building structure, which caught fire in March, was risky and unsafe.

"This matter involves the safety and lives of the Manjoi community. We do not want unwanted and worse incidents to occur.

"If the building is unsafe and needs to be demolished, then we request that the Mydin management and related parties do so and resolve it immediately," he said when contacted on Monday.

Hafez also advised the public, especially nearby residents, to avoid the surrounding area as long as the building remained unsafe.

"I have forwarded this problem to the relevant authorities for further action.

"For now, we ask residents to be cautious because in the current condition of the building, anything could happen at any time," he said.

In the incident around 4.30pm, two teenage boys aged 13 and 14 were injured by falling debris from the wall of the Mydin Manjoi Hypermarket that collapsed.
