250 union members stage pickets at five bank branches

SHAH ALAM - More than 250 members of the National Union of Bank Employees (NUBE) held peaceful pickets in batches during lunch hour yesterday.
According to a statement from NUBE, the pickets involved five bank branches nationwide.
"The atmosphere at each picket location was filled with a strong sense of solidarity and hope.
"NUBE members came together to voice their concerns and the pickets proceeded without incident, demonstrating the union’s commitment to peaceful protest and constructive dialogue," read the statement.
While police presence was high at all locations, officers were cooperative and maintained a respectful distance, ensuring the safety and order of the events, said NUBE general secretary J. Solomon.
He said this cooperation allowed NUBE members to picket effectively and safely, making their voices heard without unnecessary disruptions.
He said the key issues highlighted included exorbitant chief execuive officer (CEO) salaries, the need for fair remuneration and a safe and respectful work environment.
"This picket marks the beginning of a series of actions planned by NUBE to ensure that the rights and dignity of bank employees are upheld.
"The union will continue to stand strong, advocating for fair treatment and justice for all its members.
"NUBE urges all stakeholders, including bank management, customers and the broader community, to support this cause and work towards a more equitable banking industry," Solomon added.
