"My son's mistake was not lodging a police report when he was threatened and taking matters into his own hands," he said in tears.
JASIN - The family of the suspect in the murder of former Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) student Nur Farah Kartini Abdullah, 25, have accepted the trial that has befallen them.
The suspect's 64-year-old father said what his son allegedly did was wrong and the latter must face punishment if he was truly guilty, even though it was difficult for the family to accept.
He said the suspect, who has been a policeman for four years, was a good and responsible son and the family's hope, as he and one of his sisters were the only ones among the siblings working in the government sector.
He added that the suspect, who has been on leave since last Wednesday, visited his house in Sungai Rambai last Thursday before receiving a call to return to the police station.
"At that time, he did not speak much and looked gloomy before leaving.
"Whatever happens, I accept it as it is," he said when met by reporters at his house in Kampung Parit Sidang Seman, Sungai Rambai, here on Tuesday.
However, he hoped that the public would not speculate and leave the matter to the police to investigate.

It was reported Farah who had been missing since July 10, was found dead on Monday evening.
The victim was reported missing after delivering a rental car to a customer in Perak.
She was believed to have been murdered by someone she knew.
Her body was found in an oil palm plantation in Kampung Sri Kledang, not far from Felda Gedangsa in Hulu Selangor, at 6pm, before the police arrested a 26-year-old man who was a civil servant.
The suspect has been remanded for seven days to assist in the investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
