"I really want to know if there is a PH Member of Parliament who, without leaving their party, announces support for PN, what would be the stance of PH leaders?"

SHAH ALAM – Parti Gerakan Malaysia (Gerakan) questions whether the Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul would make the same decision if a Pakatan Harapan (PH) Member of Parliament declared support for Perikatan Nasional (PN).

Its president Datuk Dr Dominic Lau Hoe Chai said that he agreed Johari acted as a 'postman,' and his handling of the six former Members of Parliament from the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) is merely a stamp pad for the unity government.

"I really want to know if there is a PH Member of Parliament who, without leaving their party, announces support for PN, what would be the stance of PH leaders?

"Would the Dewan Rakyat Speaker act like a postman again?" he questioned in a statement on Friday.

Previously, Bersatu confirmed that its six former Members of Parliament remained as representatives after Johari decided them that there were no vacancies in their seats.

This was stated by Johari in a letter dated July 9.

The development was announced by Bersatu President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in a press conference at the Dewan Rakyat on Wednesday.

Further commenting, Dominic said that although the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) has a biased and non-neutral Dewan Rakyat Speaker, fortunately, Pasir Gudang Member of Parliament, Hassan Abdul Karim, has spoken out fairly.

"I personally highly appreciate and respect Hassan Abdul Karim. He is a grassroots PKR leader who bravely speaks out for justice, engages with voters and understands the people's situation.

"This is a leader who comes from the people and always stands with the people. He is not like some top PKR leaders who are arrogant and do not listen to the people's voice, even insulting them as foolish and unintelligent," he said.

Additionally, he criticised the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for accepting six 'political frogs' and accused Muhyiddin of selectively reading the provisions of the Federal Constitution regarding the anti-hopping law.

He stated that Article 49A of the Federal Constitution clearly stipulates that any Member of Parliament who is not a member of a specific party must vacate their seat in the House of Representatives.

"One of the responsibilities of the Dewan Rakyat Speaker is to inform the Election Commission (EC) when there is a vacancy," he said.
