'No one has the right to hit or abuse women' - Nancy

2,794 cases of domestic violence had been recorded by the Social Welfare Department from 2021 to 2023.

SHAH ALAM - The Women, Family, and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, reminds women to always protect their rights and safety.

She said that women should not allow themselves to become victims of domestic violence.

"To women, I want to remind you that others cannot or do not have the right to hit or abuse us.

"We control our own bodies, don't let anyone abuse us. Take care of yourselves," she said in a video uploaded on Instagram during the wrap-up session in the Dewan Rakyat on Thursday.

Earlier, the Santubong Member of Parliament reported that 2,794 cases of domestic violence had been recorded by the Social Welfare Department (JKM) from 2021 to 2023.

Out of that number, she said, 773 cases occurred in Selangor.

Any cases of domestic violence can be reported to the Nur Kasih hotline at 15999 or via WhatsApp at 019-2615999.
