SHAH ALAM - A household built over more than two decades ended in divorce because the wife was willing to sacrifice her dignity just to secure a construction project's tender.

Retiree Mohamad Mahadi, 57, said the separation occurred last March after his wife, Mastura, met someone through the social app Tinder.

According to him, the man she met had the same profession as Mastura, which was as a contractor.

“I noticed a change in my wife's behaviour when she often spent time on her mobile phone, to the point where she couldn't find time to spend with me and the kids. This went on for more than six months.

“I felt uncomfortable with this situation because she was no longer the wife I knew. She had completely changed, no longer eating, sleeping, and talking with us,” he told Sinar.

Mohamad added that since his ex-wife showed significant changes in their marital relationship, she was often not home, claiming work commitments outside their residential area.

Throughout 24 years of marriage, Mohamad said he respected his wife’s privacy, but curiosity about the secrets behind Mastura's smartphone arose after she changed her behaviour.

“One day, my wife didn’t bring her phone into the bathroom. So, I took the opportunity to access her phone.

“I was truly shocked to see the chat messages in the app's chat room.

“In the conversation, they shared several inappropriate photos.

“From their actions, it was clear they had slept together and even promised to meet again at a hotel in Ipoh, Perak,” said the father of four.

According to Mohamad, his wife was willing to do so because the man set the condition that she must sleep with him to get the project.

He explained that their relationship ended when he managed to uncover the disgraceful act after Mastura was found alone with the married man at a hotel in Klang, Selangor.
