Two tragic incidents involving quarrels between husbands and wives have truly shocked the nation.

In one case, a husband surrendered himself at a police station after killing his wife in a hotel room in Batu Gajah.

Another case involved a husband allegedly assaulting his wife after the woman caught him cheating in a hotel in Port Dickson.

The question is, why it is so easy for things to turn from love to the point of causing the death of someone who was once a special person to them?

What values are upheld that they resort to such a tragic outcome merely to satisfy the emotions?

Various psychological theories could be considered, but it is evident that now is the time to revisit the teachings of religion, which prohibits engaging in futile actions.

Such heart-wrenching incidents were rarely heard of decades ago; even marital problems did not lead to the extent of taking the life of a spouse.

But that was then. In today’s modern world, there are numerous possibilities.

Marriage is a journey with its share of challenges, but it should never escalate to a point of intense anger where we forget the impact of our actions on others.

In the midst of conflict, the sweet promises couple's made during courtship, the vows after marriage, promising to not cause harm to the wife's body are often overlooked.

A husband, entrusted as a protector, tragically turns to aggression and physically harms his wife.

While not all husbands in Malaysia exhibit such behaviour, these two incidents highlights the grave consequences of neglecting responsibilities within a marriage, leading to grievous sins and even murder.

Now is the time to act. Hold firmly to religious teachings, maintain the integrity of the household and protect the happiness of the family, the only true wealth we have in this world.

As a first step, it is crucial to avoid behaviours that could disrupt harmony within the household.

In navigating marital challenges, spouses should consider confiding in trusted family members rather than allowing issues to escalate into harm.
