MARANG - Aiman Asyraf Kamarudin, 33, holds a Diploma in Manufacturing from TATI University College (UC TATI) but ventured into feedlot cattle farming because of his interest in agriculture.

It was six years ago when he started the cattle farm and decided to quit his job as a project supervisor at a telecommunications company.

His decision was supported by his family, who provided him with moral and financial support.

Aiman Asyraf, from Kampung Wakaf Mempelam, here, said he decided to venture into cattle farming after finding that most of the beef supply in the local market is imported.

"I started with only five cows on a half-acre site in Kampung Tok Fakir, Mercang. Many people were sceptical about me leaving my permanent job to become a farmer then.

"But they did not weaken my spirit. From five cows, I worked hard to establish AIDEN Cattle Farm which now has more than 40 cows from the Brahman, Charolais and Limousine breeds," he said when met at the Kampung Tok Fakir farm, Mercang, recently.

Aiman Asyraf said the cows on his farm are fed with quality food such as corn, silage and fresh grass in addition to pellets which are the main diet, making the meat texture of the animal, especially from the Charolais and Limousine breeds, better.

"The meat has less fat, is dense and softer,” he said, adding that he now has three workers to help him on the farm, while his younger sister, Nur Syahirah Sufiah Kamarudin, 27, manages administrative, financial and marketing matters.

According to Aiman Asyraf, he also attends related courses organised by government agencies often to obtain information about the livestock sector and build a business network.

For his hard work and dedication, the State Veterinary Services Department nominated him as a candidate for the Marang district-level Penternak Jaya 2024 award. - BERNAMA
