SHAH ALAM – Labuan MP Datuk Suhaili Abdul Rahman appeared unfazed by the decision to declare the Nenggiri state seat vacant.

The "former" Bersatu MP stressed that this development does not alter his support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's administration.

Asked if he would rejoin Bersatu, Suhaili firmly rejected the notion.

“No, I will not rejoin Bersatu. I will attend as usual in the Dewan Rakyat sessions,” he said when contacted on Thursday.

Suhaili’s membership in Bersatu was terminated according to Clause 10.2.6 of the party's Constitution, with a notice sent on May 17.

On Wednesday, Kelantan State Assembly Speaker Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah announced that the Nenggiri state assembly seat, held by Mohd Azizi Abu Naim, was vacant after receiving a written notice under Clause (3) Article 31A of the Kelantan State Government Constitution.

This followed the termination of Mohd Azizi's membership, who is also the Gua Musang MP, due to his failure to respond to a directive from the party's Supreme Leadership Council (MPT) to pledge allegiance to the party.

Meanwhile, Jeli MP Zahari Kechik declined to comment on the matter, preferring to wait for the decision of Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul.

“I do not want to comment. Let’s wait for the Speaker’s decision,” he said.

Last week, Bersatu issued immediate termination notices to six representatives for non-compliance with Clause 10.4 of the party’s constitution.

Its Secretary-General, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, announced that the notices were issued after informing the Supreme Council members of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition in a meeting.
