PETALING JAYA - Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin's parents found themselves celebrating their wedding anniversary in an unexpected place: a lockup.

Lawyer Fahmi Abd Moin, representing the family, shared the poignant story.

"Zayn's parents were supposed to celebrate their wedding anniversary on June 5, but they ended up spending it in the lockup," he told reporters at the Petaling Jaya district police station.

Fate had different plans for them, as they were detained prior to the celebration.

"If I'm not mistaken, the day before or after is the grandparents' anniversary.

"Every year, the families would gather and celebrate together, but this year has been tragic.

"However, I believe there will be some post-celebration. We just pray for the best for them," he added.
