PETALING JAYA - The grandparents of Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin, the autistic boy found murdered in December 2023, are expected to be released on police bail today.

Lawyer Fahmi Abd Moin confirmed their release, stating they were detained to facilitate the investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

"They will be brought to the Magistrate's Court before release," he said at a press conference held at the Court Complex here today.

On December 6, 2023, Zayn Rayyan, 6, was found dead in a creek near the Idaman Apartments area in Damansara Damai at 10pm.

The victim's body was discovered by a group of residents conducting a search operation.

The victim was previously reported missing in his residential area before being found lying in the creek about 200 metres from his residential block.

Police confirmed that the victim was believed to have been murdered, following an autopsy that found injuries to the child's neck and body, indicating criminal acts.

Following this, the child's parents were remanded for 13 days starting June 1 to assist in the investigation.
