WASHINGTON - The World Bank forecasts the global economy stabilising for the first time in three years despite geopolitical tensions and low interest rates.

Global growth is projected at 2.6 per cent for 2024, slightly up from previous forecasts by 0.2 percentage points, reported the German news agency dpa.

Projections for economic growth for 2025 and 2026 stand at 2.7 per cent respectively.

The report indicates a soft landing, with reduced inflation and no recession, though challenges persist, especially for developing nations.

It warns that by the end of this year, one in four developing countries will be poorer than before the coronavirus pandemic levels. - BERNAMA-dpa
