Chaos outside court as remand of Zayn Rayyan's parents continues

PETALING JAYA – The process of extending the remand of Zayn Rayyan's parents turned chaotic when their family members shouted and expressed words of encouragement such as "Don't be a scapegoat, Isma, Zain. Strong."

The child's grandfather, Zahari Mohd Reba, was also seen with other family members outside the courthouse, holding banners that read 'Justice for Zaim, Isma and justice for Zayn Rayyan'.

The couple, clad in purple lock-up attire, were brought to court at 9.30am after their seven-day remand period, which began on June 1 and ended on Friday.

On December 6, last year, Zayn Rayyan was found dead in a river near the Idaman Apartment area, Damansara Damai at 10 pm.

The victim's body was discovered by a group of residents conducting a search operation.

The victim had previously been reported missing from his residence before being found lying in the river about 200 metres from his residential block.

Police confirmed that the victim was believed to have been murdered following a post-mortem examination which revealed injuries to the neck and body of the child, indicating criminal activity.
