PETALING JAYA - "I have been wronged; this is all slander," said the father of Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin, an autistic child who was murdered in Damansara Damai last December, at the magistrate's court here today.

His statement elicited cries from family members gathered outside the court.

Lawyer Fahmi Abd Moin, who has been appointed to represent the child's parents, arrived at the court at 8.25am.

On December 6 last year, Zayn Rayyan, 6, was found dead in a stream near Idaman Apartment, Damansara Damai, at 10pm.

The victim's body was discovered by police and a group of residents conducting a search operation.

Zayn Rayyan had previously been reported missing from his residential area before being found lying in the stream, approximately 200 metres from his residential block.

Police confirmed the victim was believed to have been murdered following an autopsy that revealed injuries on the neck and body consistent with a criminal act.
