Lawyer withdraws from representing parents of Zayn Rayyan
He expressed hope for a smooth legal process based on existing laws.
SHAH ALAM - The lawyer representing the parents of six-year-old Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin, who was found murdered in December, has withdrawn from the case.
Mahmud Jumaat of Emir Mahmud & Co confirmed his withdrawal on Tuesday, citing unavoidable reasons.
"I can confirm that I am no longer representing Zayn Rayyan's parents.
"This decision was based on professional considerations that I cannot publicly disclose," Mahmud told Sinar.
He declined further comment but expressed hope for a smooth legal process based on existing laws.
Mahmud also urged all parties to respect the legal proceedings and avoid speculation.
Zayn Rayyan's parents were arrested on Friday and remanded for seven days starting Saturday under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
Police have also questioned the boy's former caregiver.
Mahmud was previously appointed by the family after the parents' arrest in Puncak Alam.
