SHAH ALAM - A closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage that shows the moment when Selangor FC player Faisal Halim was splashed with acid at a shopping mall in Petaling Jaya on May 5 has gone viral on social media.

In the 56-second recording, a man wearing a cap with his face covered by a cloth is seen standing among several other vehicles.

The man was seen near Faisal, who was believed to be standing next to his car.

After a few seconds, the man was seen rushing towards Faisal and splashes liquid from a bottle he was holding several times.

The incident Was witnessed by several individuals nearby, including a woman believed to be Faisal’s wife.

The video also showed another man on a motorcycle near Faisal.

After attacking Faisal, the suspect immediately flees towards his accomplice, who was waiting on a motorcycle, before speeding off.

Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan had confirmed the authenticity of the video and said that the police would issue a statement soon.

Last Sunday, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain had distributed a photofit or sketch of the suspect believed to be involved in the acid attack and urged the public who recognise or have information about the individual to come forward to help locate the man who attacked the national football player.

The suspect is estimated to be in his 30s, approximately 165 centimetres tall, with a medium build and tan skin.

It was previously reported that Faisal, who is also a national team winger, suffered fourth-degree burns.
