KKB by-election: PH candidate joined by twin sister at polling centre

Sock Ying is confident that her younger sister can be a good representative of the people if she wins the by-election.

KUALA KUBU BHARU - Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate, Pang Sock Tao, arrived at the polling centre of Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) Khing Ming accompanied by her twin sister, Pang Sock Ying, on Saturday.

Sock Tao, who arrived around 8.40am, briefly met with the media before entering to observe the voting process.

However, the 31-year-old candidate did not cast her vote at the Kuala Kubu Baharu State Assembly (DUN) Hall.

Meanwhile, Sock Ying said she was confident that her younger sister, Sock Tao could be a good representative of the people if she wins the by-election.

Describing his sister as a hard worker, Sock Ying said that the 31-year-old candidate indeed showed a high interest in becoming a representative of the people.

"When she (Sock Tao) first announced that she would run in the election, my family and I were a little surprised because we were worried that she would not be getting enough rest.

"This is because I know she is a very hard worker, but getting involved in politics is normal in our family.

"My hope is that she can achieve her dream of becoming a representative of the people and I wish the best for my twins," she said when met at the polling station.

Asked if she was also interested in joining politics, Sock Ying who is an officer at one of the banks in Kuala Lumpur admitted that she had not thought in that direction yet.

Earlier, Sock Tao who arrived at SJKC Khing Ming surprised the media when she admitted she had twins.

She was also excited to meet a pair of twins, Chan Sher Er and Chan Sher Ni, 25 who cast their votes at the school.

The Kuala Kubu Baharu State Assembly by-election, which witnessed a four-cornered fight, was held following the death of incumbent Lee Kee Hiong, 58, on March 21 due to cancer.

A total of 39,269 registered voters would exercise their voting responsibility to elect the Kuala Kubu Baharu state assembly.

All 18 polling centres containing 74 polling stations or channels open simultaneously from 8am and close at 6pm.

The vote-counting process would take place at the Official Vote Counting Centre near the Multipurpose Hall and Hulu Selangor District Sports Complex, Kuala Kubu Baharu here.
