Attacks on Akhyar and Faisal unrelated - Police
KUALA TERENGGANU - The case involving Terengganu Football Club (TFC) winger Akhyar Rashid who was attacked by unknown individuals last Thursday, has no connection to the acid attack incident involving national football player Faisal Halim.
Kuala Terengganu district police chief Assistant Commissioner Azli Mohd Noor said the investigation into Akhyar's case revealed it was a robbery that led to injuries.
"As of now, there's no link between Akhyar's case and the acid attack on Faisal, which occurred at a shopping mall in Damansara on Sunday by unidentified individuals. Akhyar's case is still under investigation.
"We are also still tracking down the suspects involved. So far, no arrests have been made," he said when contacted by Sinar today.
Meanwhile, Azli advised the public not to make speculations on both incidents.
Akhyar suffered losses of over RM4,800 after being robbed by two armed men in an incident in front of a condominium in Kuala Terengganu on Thursday night.
Azli said the 25-year-old was robbed by two men who were clad in dark clothing, masks and carried firearm.
As a result of the incident, the victim, who was rushed to Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ), received six stitches, four on the upper part of the head and two on the left foot, besides experiencing pain in various parts of the body.
Following the incident involving Akhyar, Faisal became a victim of a crime when he was attacked with acid at a supermarket in Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya, on Sunday.
It is understood that the incident occurred when the Selangor FC player was approached by two motorcycle riders who then splashed acid on him, causing Faisal to suffer second-degree burns on several parts of his body, including the neck, shoulder, arm and chest.
