Tesla slashes prices for two models in Malaysia
The price "decrement” has made Tesla EV more affordable and accessible to a border range of audiences.
KUALA LUMPUR - Tesla has slashed prices for its Model 3 and Model Y by RM8,000, in line with its mission to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy and popularise the use of electric vehicles (EV).
The electric carmaker said the price "decrement” has made Tesla EV more affordable and accessible to a border range of audiences.
"Model 3 and Model Y are priced from RM181,000 and RM191,000, respectively, effective from today, customers can now order at Tesla experience centres or on Tesla's official website.
"Tesla vehicles are eligible for full import and excise duties exemption, as well as 100 per cent road tax exemption, and income tax relief up to RM2,500 for expenses related to EV charging,” it said in a statement today.
The company said the price (excluding on-the-road registration fee) for Model 3 starts from RM181,000 for Model 3 (rear-wheel drive) and RM210,000 for Model 3 Long Range (all-wheel drive).
As for Model Y, the (exclude on-the-road registration fee) price begins at RM 191,000 for Model Y (rear-wheel drive); RM 238,000 for Model Y Long Range (all-wheel drive) and RM 280,000 for Model Y Performance (all-wheel drive).
It said through the Tesla application, users can easily locate, navigate to, and monitor the status of superchargers, with payments processed automatically with a pay-per-use supercharging fee of RM1.25 per kilowatt hour.
As of today, Tesla has seven supercharging stations (36 chargers) and 10 destination charging stations (61 chargers) in Malaysia.
"With the ongoing expansion to facilitate travel between Malaysia and Singapore, where there are 11 supercharging stations and nine destination charging stations.
"Tesla is committed to keep advancing its charging infrastructure in Malaysia to meet the growing demand for Tesla across the regions,” it added. - BERNAMA
