SHAH ALAM - A man, believed to have been involved in a snatch theft incident involving a woman in Klang on April 15, was detained by police in Langkawi, yesterday.

Klang Selatan police chief ACP Cha Hoong Fong said the 24-year-old suspect was detained by police in front of Medan Selera Penarak, Kuah at 4.15 pm and brought back to Klang for investigations.

He said a few items involved in the snatch theft was seized from the suspect, and initial investigations revealed that the suspect, a local, had five previous records for criminal and drug offences.

"The suspect will be remanded for four days starting today and the case investigated under Section 394 of the Penal Code. The investigating officer is finalising investigations and the case will be referred to the deputy public prosecutor soon,” he said in a statement here today.

Cha said police had received a report last Monday that a 20-year-old woman suffered injuries to her hands, legs and left shoulder after falling on the road when her bag was snatched by the suspect who was on a motorcycle, near Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Perempuan Raja Zarina, Klang. - BERNAMA
