PKR convention: Selangor records highest number of PKR members

SHAH ALAM - Selangor has recorded the highest number of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) members, with 344,386, followed by Sabah and Sarawak.

Its secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail revealed that there were an additional 16,529 new PKR members in the last nine months, citing data as of March, this year.

"Selangor marks the highest number consisting 344,486 members with an additional 5,770 new members.

"Sabah currently has 185,004 members with an additional 1,115 new members.

"Meanwhile, Sarawak has 86,315 members as of March 2024," he said in his speech at the party's 25th anniversary special convention held at the Ideal Convention Centre, here, today.

However, he noted that Kelantan showed a sharp increase in new membership, adding that an additional 2,027 have joined the party in less than nine months.

"Kelantan shows an increase with 2,027 new members. This marks the highest after Selangor," he said.

In total, the reformist political party recorded a total of 1,153,212 members as of March.

Saifuddin also advised PKR members to not be fascinated and forget the party's struggles.

"Our president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim always reminds us about competence. However, the competence level and political will have slightly reduced after we get the mandate.

"We should not measure our success with how many MPs or how many seats we have but the real measure is that we understand our reform goals under the government's policy.

"Our revenue is limited, yet our commitment grows stronger, compelling us to undertake difficult decisions swiftly. Despite the challenges, we are confident that these actions will yield positive outcomes for the people," he said.
