Sinar Karangkraf trains National Resilience College on digital media challenges
Military ups communication game
SHAH ALAM - Sinar Karangkraf shared the challenges and considerations of using digital media with 22 National Resilience College (NRC) trainees.
NRC commander, Major General Datuk Johnny Lim Eng Seng said the programme offered valuable exposure, especially for military personnel unfamiliar with real-world media interactions.
"This Sinar Karangkraf programme is excellent.
"It exposes NRC participants to media management, preparing them to represent the college as media spokespersons in various situations.
"Today's experience is very meaningful.
"They gained valuable knowledge on media management, especially during crises when the country needs statements or explanations from senior officers," he told reporters at the sideline of the Media Management Programme at the Karangkraf Complex today.
Also present were NRC Academic Chief Major General Datuk Abdul Rahim Mohd Yusuff (B); Army Chief Judge Advocate Brigadier General Jagjit Indar Singh; Navy Chief Judge Advocate Rear Admiral (FAdm) Rosli Abd Ghani; Air Force Chief Judge Advocate Brigadier General Koey Tang Chai (RMAF); and Management Colonel Colonel Zunaidi Hassan.
Military communication and transparency
Johnny also stressed the importance of truthful communication for military personnel, particularly on critical national issues.
"We cannot avoid speaking truthfully.
"As military personnel, we must inform the public of what happened without compromise, especially on security matters.
"We need to provide the facts requested by the media and journalists for every issue," he added.
Meanwhile, Karangkraf Group's Joint Advisor Datuk Muhammad Nasir Hamzah highlighted the need for all government departments and agencies to understand the evolving media landscape.
"Social media platforms play a crucial role in disseminating information quickly to the public, especially regarding developments within the national defence body.
"Social media posts often lack depth, so programmes like this help military personnel improve their media management skills through media simulation exercises with journalists," he said.
