Famous hijab entrepreneur traumatised by home break-in
KOTA BHARU - An entrepreneur couple of a popular hijab brand in Kelantan are still in shock and traumatised after their home in Kampung Bukit Panau, Tanah Merah was broken into on Wednesday.
Before the incident, Mohamad Izat Mustaffa, 32, and his wife Ain Suraya Zulkifli, 30, took their two children, aged four and seven, to their office which was only about one kilometre away from their home to complete some work.
Izat said approximately an hour after they returned home, around 9.30pm, they discovered their house was in a mess, particularly the living room and main bedroom.
"We suspect that the individual who entered the house knows the ins and outs here because there is an area at the back of the house that cannot be detected by the four closed circuit cameras (CCTV) installed in this house.
"A few weeks ago, I noticed some people watching the area of the house and spotted signs of weeds which have been trampled on at the back of the house," he said when contacted.
However, Izat refused to accuse anyone and left it to the police to investigate.
He said after the incident, his wife suffered severe trauma and was not feeling well because she was still in a state of shock.
"Ain is unable to enter the room which the theif has entered and easily get startled because of concerns for the safety of our family, especially our children," he said.
He said it was the first time that such incident happened since they occupied the house four years ago and there were still some repairs to be done, including the installation of gratings.
The entrepreneur lodged a police report at about 9.30pm.
Meanwhile, Tanah Merah district deputy chief of police Deputy Superintendent Razi Rosli said upon receiving a report from the home owner, inspections were carried out at the residence.
He said further investigation found that the suspect fled with cash estimated at RM1,000, two gold rings and a gold nugget weighing one gramme.
"The suspect also took away a branded watch and house keys and the total loss was estimated at RM5,000," he said in a statement today.
He said investigations at the house also found fingerprints believed to belong to the suspect when he broke into the house.
"The suspect is also believed to have broken the window at the back of the house before entering the house," he said.
