'I've never been investigated' - Tun M
"As far as I know, I have never been investigated, but the MACC notice states that I have committed an offence."
SHAH ALAM - Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said he has never been investigated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
However, Dr Mahathir said the notice sent by the agency to his son, Mirzan Mahathir, contained wording indicating that he had committed an offence under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009.
"As stated by the Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, I am not treated as a criminal but the notice to my son, Mirzan, mentions an offence under this Act related to complaint number IPJ/RPTNO/0477/2023 allegedly committed by Mahathir Mohamad.
"As far as I know, I have never been investigated but the MACC notice states that I have committed an offence," he said in a statement on X on Tuesday.
It was reported on January 18 that the MACC required Mirzan to declare all moveable and immovable assets in his possession, whether within or outside the country, within 30 days from the date of the notice.
Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir, on the other hand, is being investigated under the MACC Act 2009 and the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act (AMLATFPUAA) 2001.
Dr Mahathir added the allegation made by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim that he owned billions of ringgits has not been proven until now.
"I myself do not know that I own billions of ringgits. Therefore, I have sued Anwar to show proof of this.
"The lawsuit was filed over a year ago and until now Anwar has not been able to show any evidence.
"This means that until now, I have not been found guilty. If the MACC has solid evidence, then show it," he added.
