KLIA shooting: Police seize gun from suspect
There was a scuffle during the arrest.
KOTA BHARU - The suspect who fired shots at the Terminal 1 of Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Arrival Hall was arrested with a gun in front of a private hospital on Jalan Bayam here on Monday.
The suspect, Hafizul Hawari, 38, was apprehended at a location just a few metres from the Kelantan Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK) at 3pm.
Sources said the suspect was apprehended by a team of officers and members of the Special Crime Investigation Department (D9) of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Kelantan Contingent.
"When arrested, there was a scuffle. The suspect was alone.
"The police also seized a gun from the suspect," he said.
Earlier, it was reported that after more than 24 hours on the run, the man was arrested.
The arrest was confirmed by Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.
