About 4,000 Muslims participate in World #QuranHour 2024 at Masjid Negara

KUALA LUMPUR - Around 4,000 Muslims recited the Quran simultaneously, during the World #QuranHour 2024 programme which commenced for one hour from noon, today.

This is the ninth year the programme organised by Warisan Ummah Ikhlas Foundation (WUIF) was held.

At the National Mosque, here, the World #QuranHour took place with the theme "Ummah #GrandReset: Unity & Social Transformation" grounded in the spiritual teachings of surah al-Jumu’ah.

The programme held in collaboration with the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim), this year was dedicated to fostering unity and social transformation within the Muslim community.

Raja Permaisuri Agong Raja Zarith Sofiah graced the event and was accompanied by Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek and Karangkraf Media Group advisor and WUIF founder Datuk Hussamudin Yaacub as she arrived at 11.45am.

Also present at the event were Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan and Deputy Sports Youth and Sports Minister Adam Adli Abdul Halim, among others.

The programme started with the recitations of surah al-Fatihah and verses 1-5 of surah al-Baqarah at noon. There was also explanations and tadabbur of surah al-Jumu'ah, which was the selected surah for this year's event.

Deputy Perak Mufti Datuk Zamri Hashim delivered a sermon while Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) student Munqiz Mohd Subki led the recitation of the Quran Pledge.

The World #QuranHour was held at a total of 5,139 hotspots, with additional hotspots in six countries which were Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Thailand and Saudi Arabia.

The one-hour programme was broadcast live through Astro Oasis, RTM, TV9, TV AlHijrah, Bernama TV and Astro Awani.
