SHAH ALAM - A Palestinian citizen residing in Malaysia admits to still being traumatised after receiving threats from several individuals from Israel who threaten his safety.

Yousuf Abuasssi, 28, together with his wife and child previously only sought refuge at home but decided to lodge a police report about the threats.

"God willing, I will make a report and Bukit Aman (Royal Malaysian Police) has also contacted me to provide information about the matter.

"So far, I am the only one who has received such threats because I boldly spoke out on social media about the suffering of the Gazans," he said when contacted on Monday.

The Gaza activist said that he had been contacted six times by several Israeli individuals for frequently uploading posts about oppression in his country.

Yousuf said he was accused of being paid by Hamas to expose the brutality of the Zionist regimes through social media, resulting in his Instagram and TikTok platforms being blocked.

Asked whether he had contacted anyone for assistance and protection, Yousuf said, so far, he had not done so because he was concerned about the safety of his family.

"Two months ago, I was contacted by an individual using a Russian number, but the person speaking to me was Malay.

Recently, the media reported that the police arrested an Israeli man along with six firearms and 200 bullets at a hotel on Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur.

The 36-year-old man was found to have entered the country through Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on March 12 using a French passport.

Meanwhile, Yousuf also admitted to still being worried about his and his family's safety after the arrest of the Israeli citizen.

"I feel traumatised because I feel that person came (to Malaysia) for me. Now I am cautious and ensure that all my family members are safe," he said.

At the same time, he also hoped that his family members would not become targets of threats.

"If it (the target) is for me, I am not afraid. If I die, we are martyrs. We say alhamdulillah, but my wife and child, they are innocent," he said.
