KK-Mart issue: Umno Youth Chief faces death threats
Dr Akmal to safeguard family amid death threats
MELAKA - Umno Youth Chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh is set to file a police report following death threats he received after taking a stand on the recent KK-Mart issue.
He claimed that an individual contacted him, expressing concern over death threats, warning that he would be shot dead if he continued to speak out about the issue.
Dr Akmal noted that he was en route to an engagement function when he received the threat, prompting him to file a police report at the Jasin district police headquarters to safeguard himself and his family.
"God willing, this evening I will also file a police report for my family, and I will not be tilted from my stance on this matter.
"We trust in Allah; I leave it to Allah and the authorities for further investigation," he said in a video posted on his official TikTok account on Tuesday.
On March 13, a picture of socks with the word ALLAH being sold at KK Mart Bandar Sunway went viral on social media, sparking outrage.
Three days later, the management of KK Super Mart issued an apology regarding the sale of socks branded Miranosock featuring the word Allah in several of its convenience store branches.
Earlier today, KK Mart founder Chai Kee Kan and his wife Loh Siew Mui, both directors of the company, claimed trial to a charge of deliberately hurting religious feelings at the Shah Alam Sessions Court.
Chai, better known as KK Chai and Loh were charged before judge Muhamad Anas Mahadzir under Section 298 of the Penal Code over the controversial socks bearing the word Allah.
