Fret not, thanks to our friends at the Taiwan Tourism Bureau, we managed to gather some delicious halal gastronomic delights and here we share our favourite picks.
1. Kaohsiung Halal Restaurant (next to Kaohsiung mosque)
If you are in the city of Kaohsiung, which is the second-most populated city of Taiwan then this particular restaurant should definitely be on your list. Situated right next to the main Kaohsiung Mosque, this little restaurant serves some of the best beef noodle soup. The restaurant is not very big but its quaint charm and simple yet savoury menu is bound to steal your attention (if not your appetite).
2. Chen Lili Indonesian Food, Kaohsiung
Another popular Halal haunt in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. As the name suggests, the restaurant serves delicious authentic Halal Indonesian food. From the likes of Nasi Goreng (fried rice) to Ayam Penyet, Opor and Iga (ribs), they have it all deliciously cooked. Coupled with a cosy interior design and friendly staff who can communicate in English, we suggest you visit this spot to get some grub.
3. Han Hsien International Hotel, Kaohsiung
Being one of the more sought-after hotels in Kaohsiung, the hotel is renowned for their world-class service and accommodation. To add another feather to their hat, they also serve Halal food. And the view from their top-floor restaurant is also a sight to behold. So if you are in the neighbourhood and feel like having some delicious Halal food with a breath-taking view of Kaohsiung, this may just be the place for you!
4. Schokolake Country House, Miaoli
Schokolake Country House is actually a chocolate manufacturing centre found in Miaoli and sells delicious locally-made chocolate. Naturally, they sell Halal chocolate too. However, they also have a restaurant that serves flavourful Halal dishes. Hence, if you love chocolate and are looking for a place to eat, take a tour to this centre.
5. Anatolia Turkish Restaurant, Taichung
If you plan to swing by the city of Taichung, then here is our pick. The term ‘Turkish delights’ takes a different meaning as everything served here is more than delightful. The meat on skewers and the soup with pastries are some of their recommended dishes. Freshly grilled or baked, the aroma can ignite your senses the moment you step into their nicely decorated restaurant.
6.Fuji Grand Hotel, Taipei
A tad fancy for some but for great reason. The Fuji Grand Hotel is one of the more popular Muslim friendly hotels in Taipei and Taiwan. Their Muslim-friendly rooms are equipped with Muslim prayer mats as well as the Qibla direction. And their restaurant serves food that are quite high-end but most importantly Halal for their Muslim guests. Highly recommended if you visit Taipei.
7. Westlake Resort, Miaoli
This well-known family resort is a favourite holiday spot for many locals. Situated in the hilly forest of the Miaoli district, they are well known for their famous circus acts as well as the sound and light show which can be seen in the evening. And their restaurant also serves delicious Halal food comprising of local delights. This makes it more than just a worthy stop-over!
8. Kunming Islamic Restaurant, Taipei
Our final pick serves delicious local food that are Halal. Found in a rather hidden corner of Taipei, do not be deceived by the location as they cook up some really mean locally-inspired dishes. We also appreciate the friendly staff who are always ready to serve you with a smile.
