GUA MUSANG - The Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Air Unit conducted a medical evacuation (medevac) operation to transport an Orang Asli infant from Pos Bihai to Gua Musang Hospital for treatment yesterday.

JBPM Subang Central Region public relations officer Assistant Fire Superintendent Mohd Rizzan Jefri said the patient, four-month-old Rayyan March, who had been experiencing high fever, cough and cold for the past three days, was accompanied by his mother, Lisa Awis, 32, aboard a Mi-171 aircraft.

"The aircraft departed from Subang at 1.20 pm and arrived at Gua Musang Fire and Rescue Station at 2.35 pm to pick up two nurses and respiratory aid equipment before proceeding to Kampung Tendrik, Pos Bihai at 2.45 pm.

"Upon arrival at the village, oxygen support was administered to the patient due to his weakened condition and rapid breathing,” he said in a statement today.

Mohd Rizzan said the flight operation from the village to Gua Musang Fire and Rescue Station took 40 minutes, following which the patient was transferred to the hospital via ambulance.

The operation, which involved nine crew members, concluded at 5.20pm. - BERNAMA
